About The Role: Lead the day-to-day operation of your shift, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of customer orders. Drive operational performance through strong leadership, accountability, continuous improvement, and the development of engaged, high-performing teams.
What You Will Be Doing:
Operational Leadership
• Lead shift operations to achieve productivity, quality, safety, and service targets.
• Execute production plans while ensuring compliance with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards.
• Monitor performance, resolve operational issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance customer outcomes.
People Leadership
• Lead, coach, and develop Team Leaders and Production Operatives to build capability and succession.
• Set clear expectations, monitor KPIs, provide regular feedback, and manage performance.
• Promote accountability, engagement, recognition, inclusion, and colleague wellbeing.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and employee relations in partnership with HR.
Ownership & Decision Making
• Take ownership of shift performance and operational challenges.
• Make timely, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Lead by example with a hands-on approach and empower teams to solve problems and improve processes.
Health, Safety & Quality
• Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, food safety, and quality standards.
• Conduct audits, risk assessments, and investigations, implementing effective corrective actions.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant workplace.
Continuous Improvement
• Apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Use performance data to identify opportunities and support implementation of new processes and initiatives.
Who You Are:
Essential
• Experienced people leader in a fast-paced manufacturing, production, fulfilment, logistics, or FMCG environment.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Results-driven, with experience managing KPIs and driving operational performance.
• Solid understanding of health & safety, quality, and continuous improvement principles.
Advantageous:
• Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Knowledge of Lean, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma.
• Relevant Food Safety or Health & Safety qualifications.
