About the job

This position is needed to fulfill the critical role of a Software Engineer within Twilio Sendgrid, to be both hands-on in creating, deploying and managing highly available, very large scale distributed systems.

Our systems processed 12 billion emails on Black Friday 2025 and we continue to scale! You will be a key contributor in one or more of these areas - Redesigning backend services to improve scalability, strengthening service security to keep up with changing threats. Delivering solutions that enhance the customer journey and developing new product offerings that provide actionable insights into the health of customers’ email programs.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll

  • Build and operate your team's services in a distributed production environment used by millions of customers across the globe.
  • Collaborate routinely with other team members as well as members of the wider organization to tackle complex problems in distributed computing.
  • Help, guide, mentor and influence more junior members of the team in their career.
  • Communicate effectively to executives, to your peers, and internally among your team.
  • Constantly look for areas of improvement in systems and optimize. Be an advocate for balancing tech debt and feature development
