Finance Lead

at Wing

Wing is seeking a hybrid Finance Lead based in Palo Alto, CA to act as a strategic Finance Business Partner supporting Manufacturing, Logistics, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams.

Job Description

About Wing

Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.

About the Role

Wing is looking for a Finance Lead to act as the key Finance Business Partner supporting our Manufacturing, Logistics, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams. This role will be hybrid based in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will be the primary architect behind the sophisticated financial models that underpin our strategic growth, translating complex engineering data into scalable frameworks for our unit economics and long-term planning. You will be a key partner to leadership, distilling deep insights into clear, actionable narratives that drive decision-making. We are specifically looking for a candidate with an engineering or technical background who can deeply understand our physical infrastructure, production lines, and technical roadmap to build highly accurate unit economics, capital expenditure (CAPEX), and cost of goods sold (COGS) frameworks.

We are looking for a forward-thinking finance leader, who is as comfortable managing complex cross-functional projects as they are building models. The ideal candidate is a 'super-user' who is relentless about driving efficiency—constantly seeking out new AI and automation tools to elevate our workflows—and has a keen eye for detail, capable of turning intricate financial data into polished, board-ready presentations.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the strategic Finance Business Partner to Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Logistics leadership.
  • Oversee financial management for R&D, CAPEX, manufacturing, and freight/warehouse operations.
  • Design and maintain complex cost frameworks, encompassing Bill of Materials (BOM), factory yields, and inventory valuation to bring clarity to unit economics.
  • Synthesize technical roadmap milestones and hardware specifications into scalable financial projections.
  • Orchestrate monthly forecasts, annual budgeting, and close cycles while articulating the operational drivers behind financial variances.
  • Pinpoint and execute efficiency initiatives across supply chain routes, warehouse logistics, and production lines.
  • Champion the adoption of AI-enabled tools and automation to modernize financial reporting and eliminate manual efforts.

What You’ll Need

  • At least 12 years of advancing experience within engineering or finance, working closely with hardware, manufacturing, or supply chain organizations.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Superior proficiency in financial modeling (Google Sheets super-user) with a history of architecting zero-to-one frameworks for COGS, BOM, and production workflows.
  • Robust business acumen and the talent to distill intricate technical roadmaps into polished, board-ready narratives and financial insights.
