The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for building a safety culture and strong engagement on site, developing and implementing safety programs in partnership site leadership & facilitating safety training. The Health and Safety Manager reports directly to the Senior Manager, National Health and Safety, and will collaborate closely with the Site Director. The Health and Safety Manager oversees a Health and Safety Coordinator; and works directly with Production Supervisors and Managers to ensure workplace safety is top priority. The size of the team overseen depends on the specific site.

• Contribute to a strong, continuously improving, safety-first culture through employee engagement, strong health and safety management programs, and training.
• Work with Leadership to develop health and safety management systems and the associated rollout and facilitated training to ensure continued growth opportunities for the organization.
• Lead health and safety audits, routine site checks, and closing of compliance gaps to establish high safety standards and compliance with HelloFresh and OHS requirements.
• Partner with site management to proactively identify, assess, analyze, and mitigate job hazards; and establish high effectiveness of controls and processes to eliminate safety risks.
• Engage, motivate, and train employees on safety roles and responsibilities, accountabilities, and processes to maintain a safe workplace.
• Oversee incident investigations, reporting, and management, develop root cause analysis and mentor operational personnel in its processes.
• Oversee injury management, WCB claim management, and Return-to-Work (RTW) processes.
• Lead safety reporting; ensure high transparency and visibility to safety metrics and alerts on site.
• Oversee onboarding and on the job safety training programs for employees.
• Work with operations to develop and mentor an effective Joint Health and Safety Committee.
• Monitor existing and incoming relevant legislation and regulations to ensure the site meets requirements and that health and safety management programs are up to date with leadership.
• Work in compliance with Provincial OH&S acts, regulations, and legislation, Industry best practice, and internal Policy and Procedure.
• Use personal protective and safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer and report workplace hazards and dangers to the supervisor or employer.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Manager, National Health and Safety.
