About the role
As a Staff Product Designer, you will take on our largest and most ambiguous design problems and set the long-term design direction for your product area. You will shape what we build as well as how it works: complex journeys, patterns other teams depend on, and the questions that decide what comes next.
Designing for money means designing for trust, often for people on low-end devices and unreliable internet connections, and your work will set the standard for how we do that.
You will join one of our product teams, working either on the products our customers use on POS, mobile and web, or on the operational tools our teams use to serve them. Your home team is where your work starts, not where it ends. The journeys you design and the patterns you create will cut across several teams, so you will work closely with designers, product managers and engineers on those teams to make sure the product holds together as one experience.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role: you will lead through your work and your influence, partnering with design, product and engineering leaders, with support from researchers and content designers.
What you'll do
• Own the design of our most complex work end to end, from discovery through launch and beyond.
• Set the long-term design direction for your product area, thinking ahead to where the product is going so teams can plan and build towards it.
• Work with product and engineering leaders to decide what we build and why, starting from the problem, not the solution.
• Think in systems, creating templates and patterns that can be configured and reused, and partner with our design system team to shape its direction.
• Set the bar for accessibility and inclusion in your product area and help other teams reach it, so our products work for everyone, whatever their ability, device, internet connection or level of digital literacy.
• Spot where features built by different teams overlap or conflict, and bring those teams to one design that works across the whole product.
• Shape our biggest product bets by testing them with customers and data before we commit to building them.
• Stay with the work through build so that what ships matches what was designed, then measure its impact on customers and the business and keep improving it. Present your wor
