ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

LILT is seeking culturally fluent In-Game Localization Specialists to ensure gaming titles resonate with players around the world. In this role, you will adapt in-game content linguistically and culturally, preserving the original tone, intent, and immersive experience across multiple languages and regions.

WHAT YOU’LL DELIVER

  • Localize in-game text, UI, dialogue, subtitles, and narrative content for target languages while maintaining tone, style, and context.
  • Ensure cultural relevance and sensitivity by adapting content appropriately for regional audiences.
  • Review and edit localized content for accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Support the maintanance of glossaries, style guides, and terminology databases.
  • Work with localization QA teams to identify and resolve linguistic bugs in-game.
  • Provide feedback on localization pipelines and suggest improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Coordinate with language teams

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Native-level fluency in the target language
  • ISO 17100 Certification Criteria:
  • A graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR
  • A graduate qualification in another field plus 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR
  • 5 years of full-time professional translation experience.
  • 3+ years demonstrable experience in localizing game video content.
  • In depth and practical understanding of the nuances and considerations of translating the following gaming content types:
  • UlContent/menus
  • Mission text
  • Non-Player Character (NPC) ambient dialogue
  • Locked cutscene subtitle blocks
  • Transcreation experience specifically within the gaming sector, translating NBA-related content for video games.
  • Familiarity with game engines and localization pipelines.
  • Knowledge of scripting formats (e.g., XML, JSON) is a plus.
  • Passion for video games, especially sports, action, or narrative-driven titles.

WHAT TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING

  • Not ideal as a full time job or primary income source. Work availability fluctuates with project demand, making this better suited as a supplemental income stream. As a 1099 contractor, you won't receive benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, or retirement contributions, and hours are not guaranteed.
  • Requires reliable availability and commitment. Once you accept a task, we expect quality work and on-time delivery. Most tasks require a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week. If your schedule is unpredictable, this may not be the right fit.
  • Geographic restrictions may apply. We cannot engage contractors in regions subject to international embargo or sanctions. As a 1099 contractor, you are solely responsible for your own tax obligations. We recommend consulting a tax professional before engaging.
