ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a proactive, motivated, and process-minded Manager, Accounting to join our Accounting team! This role bridges core accounting with continuous process modernization. You will play a key role in the Accounting and Finance department during a dynamic period of process transformation. In this role, you will be responsible for both core accounting and driving finance transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, control automation, and reporting quality. You will identify and implement automation, leverage AI, and eliminate manual workflows - all while ensuring strong internal controls, high reporting quality, and close alignment with cross-functional partners and offshore teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, external reporting processes, and internal controls, as well as a thorough understanding of Peloton’s multifaceted business. YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
• Play an important role in the month-end financial statement close process by reviewing account reconciliations, keeping team priorities on track and assisting staff, and working with various cost centers throughout the organization to acquire relevant information
• Lead initiatives focused on driving efficiency, scalability, control automation, and reporting quality across the controllership organization
• Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are carried out in accordance with GAAP principles
• Partner closely with our offshore accounting team to guide daily deliverables, review work products, streamline handoffs, and ensure consistent quality standards
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual, Excel-heavy workflows through automation, AI tooling, and enhanced workpaper standardization
• Review and approve journal entries and GL reconciliations prepared by staff/senior accountants on a weekly and monthly basis
• Perform a detailed review of expense accounts for proper accruals, coding, and accounting
• Assist in the redesign and structure of our Chart of Accounts (COA) and partner on ERP-based implementations and enhancements
• Investigate reporting discrepancies/anomalies and communicate issues as they arise in a timely manner
• Partner with FP&A team and business department owners to improve monitoring and tracking of operating expenses for cost centers, advise on accounting policies, calculate and record appropriate accruals each month, and understand the key drivers and variances to budget/forecast
• Support the year-end financial statement audit, as well as any statutory audits that may arise
