As a Senior Accountant, Brokerage and Derivatives on the Finance team's Accounting - Books & Records group, you'll own core accounting, close, controls, and regulatory reporting for Coinbase's registered Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) and Broker-Dealer entities. This team provides the financial foundation for Coinbase's expanding brokerage and derivatives businesses, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability as new products launch and regulated operations grow. You'll partner across Accounting, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance to solve complex problems, strengthen the control environment, and build processes that scale with the business. This is more than a close-and-reporting role. You will have a direct line of sight from your work to regulatory readiness, product launches, audit outcomes, and the financial integrity of businesses operating at the forefront of digital assets.

 

What you'll do:

• Own the monthly close for the FCM and Broker-Dealer entities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and quarterly and annual reporting.

• Prepare accurate and timely regulatory reporting for the CFTC, NFA, and other applicable regulators, monitoring capital and liquidity requirements daily.

• Lead coordination of internal and external audits, driving cross-functional stakeholder alignment and successful audit outcomes.

• Design, execute, and continuously improve internal controls over accounting, regulatory reporting, and compliance processes.

• Partner with cross-functional teams on new product launches and business initiatives, ensuring accounting and regulatory readiness from inception.

• Identify and implement opportunities to automate and scale accounting operations through technology and process improvement.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5–7 years of experience in public accounting, industry accounting, or a combination of both.
