IT NOC Technician

spacex · Hawthorne, CA · Full-time

About this role

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

IT NOC TECHNICIAN

SpaceX is looking for an IT NOC Technician to monitor and maintain the high-availability network infrastructure that supports our mission-critical operations. As part of the IT team, you will be responsible for real-time monitoring, incident response, and troubleshooting of enterprise and operational networks that enable launch operations, engineering systems, and corporate services.

The ideal candidate has strong networking fundamentals, experience working in a 24/7 operations environment, and the ability to quickly diagnose and escalate issues to protect system availability. You will also contribute to improving monitoring, documentation, and operational processes to support SpaceX’s rapid growth and high-reliability requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor enterprise and operational networks, data centers, cloud environments, and connectivity supporting launch sites, Starlink infrastructure, and corporate facilities using advanced monitoring platforms.

• Manage ISP's for circuit outages and turnups/disconnects.

• Detect, triage, and respond to network incidents, performance issues, and outages with a focus on minimizing impact to launch operations and real-time mission support.

• Perform initial troubleshooting of network, firewall, routing, switching, and connectivity problems across both traditional IT and operational technology (OT) environments.

• Create, manage, and escalate tickets in accordance with ITIL-aligned processes and strict SLAs required for mission-critical systems.

• Execute runbooks and standard operating procedures for common issues while escalating complex problems to Tier 2/3 engineers or specialized teams (e.g., Network Engineering, Security, Launch IT).

• Generate operational reports and post-incident summaries, including metrics relevant to launch campaigns and satellite operations.

• Maintain accurate documentation of network topologies, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.

• Participate in change management, planned maintenance, and incident management.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Launch Operations, Starlink, Software, Security) to improve monitoring coverage and reduce mean time to resolution.

• Support high-reliability environments where network downtime can directly affect vehicle testing, launch countdowns, or satellite communications.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or Engineering; OR 4+ years of hands-on NOC, network operations, or IT infrastructure experience in lieu of a degree.

• 2+ years of experience in a NOC, network operations, or IT infrastructure role.
