About this role
About the Role
The Sort Capacity Manager owns network-wide capacity de-risking for the Sort organization. This role builds and maintains the constraint model that defines what “de-risked capacity” means across every 1P and 3P facility — dock door availability, floor/pallet-position space, max throughput, and optimal labor and automation.
About the Role
• Own the network constraint model — Model site capacity against its underlying constraints: dock door availability (inbound/outbound truck cadence by hour, translated from Mx forecast), floor/pallet-position space (inbound-to-outbound hourly volume vs. staging capacity), max throughput (automation vs. manual sortation rate, package profile mix, cross-dock vs. sort), and optimal labor hours required to hit max output.
• Govern spoke capacity data — Drive spoke capacity maintenance in the sort app, ensuring product reflects current facility configuration, and hold cross-functional partners accountable when it doesn't.
• Own zip-to-facility strategy — Own zip code-to-facility mapping and re-optimization as volume and rates shift, balancing service-level and cost trade-offs.
• Own device and consumable readiness — Forecast scanners, bins, and gaylords against site growth to avoid reactive procurement; own the readiness cadence end to end.
• Scope hub-to-spoke routing opportunities — Build the business case for hub-sort-to-spoke direct routing and bring recommendations forward to Network Design and Real Estate.
• Close forecasting product gaps — Identify where forecasting tools fail to capture capacity reality and drive the fix with Data/Product partners.
• Own Mx launch — Own Mx launch end to end, including CET allocation by merchant priority, negotiating trade-offs across competing merchant demands.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
• 3-6-12 month runway visibility ahead of any projected capacity constraint.
• Site launch recommendations delivered proactively, not reactively.
• % of high-priority Mx launches assigned an optimal CET.
We're excited about you because you have…
• Strategic model ownership — You've built and owned a capacity, forecasting, or network constraint model that became a standing input to planning — not a one-off analysis.
• Independent judgment — You can independently judge where the real bottleneck is across a large, multi-site network, without a pre-scoped problem statement.
• Cross-functional negotiation — You've negotiated trade-off recommendations with senior, cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Network Design, Real Estate, Finance) and influenced capital-adjacent decisions.
• Physical operations fluency — You understand physical warehouse operations deeply enough to translate dock, floor, throughput, and labor constraints into a single model.
• Experience — 7+ years in supply chain, network strategy, or operations, with direct experience owning capacity planning or site launch strategy at scale.
